Connie "Meemaw" Ellis, age 75, of DeLand, passed away unexpectedly at her daughter's residence in St. Augustine on Sunday, April 27, 2014. Connie was born and grew up in Dayton, Ohio and had been a resident of DeLand since 1972. She worked at Publix Supermarket in DeLand for more than 12 years. Connie was always happy no matter the circumstance and always had a smile on her face. She loved her dog "Sassy" and most enjoyed sharing a good meal with her family and friends. She was a member of the DeLand Y.M.C.A Silver Sneaker Exercise Group. More than anything, Connie was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by daughters, Paige Purvis (Zach) of St. Augustine, Lisa Ellis (Terry), and Terese Coleman (Sean), both of DeLand; a brother, Bill Burkhart (Helen) of Haines City; grandchildren, Chelsea, Boone, Piper & Tanner, and many other grandchildren. A celebration of Connie's life will held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd at The Perfect Spot at SkyDive DeLand. Please contact the family for more information.
