Joseph Binder, 86, of Ormond Beach, passed away May 4, 2014. Joseph was born in Romania and immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1956, settling in New York. He worked his way up to owning a deli in the Bronx and he was a distributor for Boar's Head for 13 years. After moving to Ormond Beach 35 years ago, he was a distributor for Sparkle Ice for 13 years, until his retirement. Joseph was a lifetime member of the German American Society and held the office of President for 7 years. He also served 17 years on the Trails Architectural Control Committee. He enjoyed working outdoors, spending time with his family, and serving his community. His wife of 65 years, Margaret, was by his side to support him in all his initiatives. Along with his wife, left to cherish his memory are his children; Annamaria (John) Zeoli of Deland, Joseph (Judy) Binder of San Antonio, TX and Brigitte (David) Behrens of Ormond Beach; grandchildren, Michelle Binder of Centerville, OH and Steven (Kelly) Michalewski of Longwood and great grandchildren, Landon and Logan Michalewski. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 9, 2014 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 So. Nova Road, Ormond Beach.
