Earnest L. "Earnie" Gainey, 83, of Palm Coast, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at The Windsor Assisted Living in Palm Coast following an extended illness. A native of Daytona Beach, Earnie , resided in Palm Coast since 1993. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Earnie was a general contractor and a member of the Central Church of Christ of Flagler County. He had also been a care-taker at the Central Florida Bible Camp and had worked with the "Sojourners". He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Wanda Gainey of Palm Coast, three sons, Dennis Gainey and wife Kathie, and Doug Gainey, all of Bunnell and Bryan Gainey and wife Joyce of Ormond Beach, a brother, Ted Gainey, Jr. and wife Shirley of Port Orange, a sister, Ethel of North Carolina, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Church of Christ of Flagler County with Bro. Dave Stidham and Bro. Mike Hipes officiating. Burial will be Tuesday at 2:30 P.M. at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with military honors by the Sumter County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to the Central Church of Christ of Flagler County, P.O. Box 353789, Palm Coast, FL 32135 or to the Central Florida Bible Camp, 23813 CR 44A, Eustis, FL 32736.
