James K. "Jim" Doty

Jim went to be with his Lord and the love of his life, Marie Doty. Jim was born on August 21, 1913 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Clarence and Dorothy Doty. He was a former resident of Greentown, Indiana, Kokomo, Indiana and the Daytona, Florida area. Jim served as Clerk-Treasurer of Green-town for four years. He retired from General Motors in 1975 with 38 years of dedicated service as senior accountant. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in December 1941 and flew 50 combat missions over Europe as a bombardier in the 12th and 15th Air Forces. Jim was awarded the Air Medal with seven oak clusters, Presidential unit citation and several other medals and ribbons. He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach, FL. A past commander of American Legion Post 317 in Green-town; A life member of VFW Post 4300 in Sebring, Florida, Jim was also a charter member of Botanical Gardens of Volusia, The Palette and Brush Club and a life member of the Elks Club. Jim is survived by his son Dave in Lake Placid, FL; daughter Debbie Rideout of Ft. Collins, CO and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Services for Jim will be held at the VFW Post in Sebring, FL in July. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The American Legion, Post 317 in Greentown, Indiana.
