Mrs. Marian V. Rakow, age 89, of DeBary died June 2, 2014 in DeBary Manor. Mrs. Rakow was born on June 14, 1924 in Highland, Wisconsin, the daughter of Andrew W. and Muriel Williams Drone. On April 21, 1941, she was united in marriage to Marvin W. Harper. He gave his life in Iwo Jima on March 14, 1945. On April 22, 1946, she married Frederick A. Rakow. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1991. She is survived by her husband, Charles W. Brooks of 16 years; a son, Larry Harper; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her beloved daughter; Shirley Hill, one brother and four sisters. Friends may call on Thursday, June 5th from 5-7p.m. at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, 386-775-4260. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 2500 S. Volusia Avenue, Orange City, FL 32763, with Pastor Mark Winkler officiating. Burial will follow in Deltona Memorial Gardens in Orange City, Florida. Memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund at Emmaus Lutheran Church ELCA, 2500 S. Volusia Avenue, Orange City, FL 32763.
