Jim Burleson, 75, Edgewater, former Postmaster for Roan Mountain, TN Post Office for 25 years, died Thursday, June 19, 2014. Mr. Burleson was born in Banner Elk, NC and moved to Edgewater in 1993 from Roan Mountain. He was a longtime member of Magill Memorial Presbyterian Church, Roan Mountain and was a realtor for Keyes Real Estate, New Smyrna Beach until 2013. Survivors include his wife, Anne M; one daughter, Diane (Matt) McKinney of Roan Mountain; two brothers, Bob (Gail) Burleson of Roan Mountain and Tom (Peggy) Burleson of Colfax, NC; three grandchildren, Shellie and Mattison McKinney and Randall Johnson and his sister-in-law, Ginger Burleson of Sanford. He was preceded in death by his son, Bill Burleson, his brother, Eddie Burleson and his half-sister, Bobbie Miller McKinney. Cremation will be by Dudley Crematory, New Smyrna Beach. A memorial service and cremains burial will be at a later date in Roan Mountain. The family wishes to thank the ICU and Chemotherapy staff at Bert Fish Medical Center, New Smyrna Beach and Drs. Appleton and Sorathia for their compassionate and caring service to Jim.
