Clyde McDaniel, age 76, of New Smyrna Beach, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia / Flagler, Edgewater. Born in Old-town, Kentucky, Mr. McDaniel, a registered land surveyor, grew up in Lansing, Michigan, then moved to this area in 1998 after residing in Michigan for 58 years. A loving family man, he was an avid golfer and a dedicated Michigan State Spartan fan. Mr. McDaniel also enjoyed auto racing and riding motorcycles. He was active in his church and was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Kay; four children, Curt McDaniel, Wendi (Bill) Dwyer, Terri Thayer, and Penny (Rob) Huddle; one brother, Doug McDaniel; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild expected in November. Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Alphonsine McDaniel. Celebration of Life will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 28 at Glencoe Baptist Church, 196 N. Glencoe Road, New Smyrna Beach, with Pastor Barry Campbell officiating. Calling hours will be from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
