Florence "Flo" Irene Shomo, 80, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away June 25, 2014. A Visitation in her honor will be held today (Friday, June 27), 2014 from 6-8pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at a later date at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Flo was born in Detroit, Michigan to Stanley and Anna Kwas. She met and married Richard after his military service. They raised their family of 3 boys in Detroit, later moving to Ohio. Flo and Richard then empty-nested in Illinois. They retired to Florida and enjoyed their Aberdeen community. Sadly, Flo lost Richard, her husband of 43 years, in 1999. Flo was very sociable and made many friends at Aberdeen. She particularly enjoyed traveling throughout the country and to Europe. She was also a Red Hat Society member. Flo's memory will be cherished by her family. She is survived by her sons: Richard (Denise) of Westerville, OH, Gary (Kathryn) of Bedford, NH, and David Shomo of Port St. John, FL; by her grandchildren: Michael, Kristen, Eric, Taylor, and Amy; and one great-grandchild, Phelan. She will also be missed by her sisters Delores Duneske of Dearborn, MI and Marie Bonadeo of Livonia, MI.
