Mrs. Mildred D. Jackson, 77, 347 E. Ohio Avenue, DeLand, entered life's sunset on July 30, 2014. Born in River Junction, Florida, Florida on April 21, 1937 to the late William & Willie Lee Davis. She moved to this area in 1961 after graduating from Stephens High School in Quincy, Florida. For 37 years, she was married to Henry W. Jackson, Sr., (who departed this life in 1993) where they raised their family. Mildred, a homemaker enjoyed reading and gardening. She is survived by her children: Henry W. Jackson II & Derrick Jackson; daughters: Diane Howell, Marian Jackson and Karian Jackson, all of DeLand; sisters: Dorothy Curry and Elouise Lynn, both of St. Petersburg, FL; brother: William Davis, Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law: Annie (Frank) Thomas, Immokalee, FL; Vera Davis, Austin, TX; brothers-in-law: James Williams, Quincy, FL; Ernest Gloster, Immokalee, FL; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends. Her life will be celebrated 11am Saturday, August 9th at Bethel A. M. E. Church, 226 East Howry Avenue, DeLand, Reverend Jeffery J. Dove, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow the services at Union Cemetery, DeLand. Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 4pm to 7pm Cusack Mortuary and Saturday from 10am until service time at the church.
