Donald C. Ramsey, 85, of New Smyrna Beach passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014. Donald was born in Smithville, New York to Lee and Lola Ramsey. He was a World War II Army veteran and Navy reserves serviceman. He enjoyed his work as a telecommunication professional (aka "phone man") for over 30 years with Southern Bell and AT&T. He served many local businesses after his retirement. Donald was a longtime race fan who relished being an appreciated member of the race teams of his son-in-law and grandson. He was an active member of the working crews at New Smyrna Speedway and Orlando Speed World. His greatest passion was his beloved wife of more than six decades, Mabel Biccum Ramsey. Together they raised a family of four children who survive him: Donna (Jerry) Fitch, John (Joann) Ramsey, Wilbert (Betsy) Ramsey, Tom (Julie) Ramsey. He also is survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 4:00 pm. Saturday, August 23 at the Settle-Wilder New Smyrna Beach Chapel, with the Rev. Laura Berg, Coronado Community United Methodist Church, officiating. A reception will follow at the Anglers Yacht Club. Condolences may be sent to www.settlewilderfuneralhome.com
