Myra Pauline Hyatt, age 84, of New Smyrna Beach, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 17. Born in Montbrook, Florida, she was a lifelong area resident. A homemaker, Mrs. Hyatt was a member of the Upper Room Chapel of Oak Hill. She enjoyed playing softball, playing her last game at age 74, when she could still hit the ball over the fence. Other interests included reading and working jigsaw puzzles, and sports. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a Sunday School teacher for the former Wallace Road Church of God for 15 years. Survivors include four daughters, Judy (Mickey) Denton of Edgewater, Brenda (Bob) Oglesby of Edgewater, Suzy Gozzard of Florida, and Christine (Kenny) Murphy of Erwin, Tennessee; two sons, Charles Hyatt of Edgewater, and Kyle (Taylor) Hyatt of Cordele, Georgia; two brothers, Joseph E. Knight and Carroll M. Knight, both of New Smyrna Beach; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Bill, and her parents, Ivey and Alice Chesser Knight. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 21 at the Settle-Wilder New Smyrna Beach Chapel, with Pastor Charles Vanorsdale, Upper Room Chapel of Oak Hill, officiating.
