Mary Jane Bryan Gassmann, 78 years old, born November 28, 1935, life-time resident of DeLeon Springs, Florida passed away in DeLand, Florida on August 20, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elzie H. and Jessie L. Bryan, her sister, Clara Mae Bryan Bennett, her son Duane Bryan Gassmann, and granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Altice. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Duane Gassmann, sisters, Betty Spence and Jennifer Crass of DeLeon Springs, FL, three daughters, Vicki Rochester, DeLeon Springs, FL, Pam Altice, DeLeon Springs, FL, and Kim (Randy) Hutcherson, Pierson, FL. Four grandchildren, Jaime (William) Raulerson, Tyler Altice, Cale (Rachel) Hutcherson, and Kinsey Hutcherson and two great grandchildren, Grant Raulerson and Caleb Hutcherson. Also, numerous nephews and nieces and many, many cousins. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of DeLeon Springs and her beloved Maranatha Sunday School class. Her deep love of family and family history led to her passion for genealogy and her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) serving in the Col Arthur Erwin Chapter of DeLand and Abigail Bartholomew Chapter in Daytona Beach. She was a descendent of the Clifton Pioneer family of West Volusia. She served on the Pinehurst Cemetery Board of Directors for many years. Her love of Jesus was foremost and she was always quick to give Him praise. Her tenderness, ready wit, and loving kindness will surely be missed. Visitation will be Sunday, August 24, 2014, from 4:00 PM 6:00 PM at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home, DeLand, Florida. A service will be held at the First Baptist Church of DeLeon Springs, DeLeon Springs, Florida at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 25, 2014. A graveside ceremony will be held immediately after at the Pinehurst Cemetery, DeLeon Springs, Florida.
