Floyd Cameron passed away Thursday evening at 10:01 p.m. due to complications from a fall suffered at home. He was born in Paragould, AR on January 17, 1931. He was raised by grandmother,
Rachel Cameron. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anita Cameron and two sons Vince and Randy Cameron. He is survived by his wife Joan Cameron of Orange City, two sons Larry Cameron of Jacksonville, FL and Drew of DeLand, FL, three step children, Jill Fitzgerald of DeLand, Greg Conn of Queens, New York & Laura Hagan of Iron Mountain, Michigan, 15 grandchildren & two great grandchildren. Floyd grew up in Brooklyn, AR where he excelled at basketball at Brooklyn High, achieving All State honors. After high school, he entered the U.S. Air Force and served as an officer during the Korean War. Upon returning, he married his wife Anita and started a family, living in several cities in NE Arkansas. In 1972 the family moved to Orange City where he was an accountant for a family owned car dealership. In 1981 he began work at Stetson University in DeLand as Director of Student Accounts, where he worked until retiring in 1997. He married his second wife Joan in April of 2000. Together they enjoyed each other's companionship for 14 ½ years. Floyd's hobbies in his younger years were golf, fishing and enjoying spending time with family. They will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 25 at the Lankford Funeral Home, with a celebration of his life at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at DeLand Memorial Gardens.
