Fred Johnson Sandlin passed away September 17, 2010 in Daytona Beach, FL at the age of 70. He was born in Scottsburg, Indiana on March 1, 1940, the son of the late Fred and Lillie Sandlin. He is survived by one son, David, whom he loved dearly; and an aunt, Mary Brough of Scottsburg, Indiana. Fred graduated from Cumberland College in Kentucky and went on to receive a Master's degree from Indiana University. He began his teaching career in Spencerville, Ohio and came to Avon Park, Florida in 1966 to teach driver's education at Avon Park High School. Coach Sandlin was head boys basketball coach for over a decade. After starting a restaurant and then going into the insurance business, Fred became a co-owner of Sunshine Title and Sunshine Leasing Company. His company grew to be one of the largest private firms in the state and gave him the business success he sought. A loving and caring person, Fred will be missed by his many friends, family and business associates.
