William "Bill" Lee Hughes, 56, of Port Orange, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday May 29th, 2011. A visitation will be held on Thursday (today), June 2nd, 2011 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32114, from 6pm until 8pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday June 3rd, 2011 in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home at 1pm, with burial to follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery. Bill was born on June 28th, 1954 in Daytona Beach, Florida, and a 1972 graduate of Mainland High School. Following high school Bill began working for Zeno Marine as a mechanic; He has spent the past 30 years working for Colony in the Wood in the maintenance department. Bill was a man of few words with a gentle nature, and quiet strength. He adored his family and cherished the time they spent together. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and tinkering with restoration projects in the barn. He was hands down one of the most caring, loving, and helping men known. Bill always went above and beyond for others and his family. His true character was shown in his kind gestures and loving nature. He is preceded in death by his father John P. Hughes. Bill will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 26 years, Kathy Hughes; daughters, April France, Jenny (Timothy) Connell; son, William "Billy" Hughes Jr.; mother, Ruth Hughes; brother, Alan (Claudia) Hughes; grandchildren, Jayce France, Ariana and Eden Connell; many extended family members and close friends.
