A funeral service for Hazel Harvey Snead, 89, of Holly Hill, Florida, who passed away peacefully to be with the Lord, with her family by her side on June 19, 2011, will be held on Friday, June 24 at 1:00pm, at Flomich Ave. Baptist Church, 1305 Flomich St., Holly Hill with Reverend Jerry Webb officiating. Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill. Ms. Snead was born in Jacksonville, FL on September 24, 1921. She has lived in this area since 1950. Hazel Snead, a retired restaurant owner, was nominated for woman of the year for all of her work in the following clubs and organizations. She has been treasurer o the board of the Work Oriented Rehabilitation Center (WORC) for the handicapped since 1974. She is a past member of the Soroptimist Club of Daytona Beach. She served as treasurer, ways and means chairman of the club and, in 1967, received the "Leadership in Community Service Award "by the Soroptimist Club. She was also recognized by the Civitan club for outstanding serving in fund raising. She was one of the organizers of the committee which was instrumental in getting the Sica Hall Community Center built in Holly Hill. She has been a member of the Holly Hill Beautification Board, the Rotary Anns, and is a past member of the Volusia Restaurant Association. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Holly Hill where she helped raised many children thru the church. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Donna and her parents Charlie and Ella Harvey. Survivors include her sons, Charles Snead and Richard Snead, her Daughter Patricia Jean Snead, and her three grandchildren Michelle, Alecia, and Rachael.
