December 8, 1945 - April 21, 2012. James Kenneth Roth, known as Jim to most, was the youngest in a family of eight children and grew up in York, PA. He graduated from York Catholic High School in 1964 and married shortly after. Jim retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1997 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union (UAW) local #386. Following retirement, Jim and his wife Pat traveled extensively to all corners of the world and enjoyed meeting people of all cultures. Jim was a real people person and having never met a stranger he couldn't strike up a conversation with or share a story. First and foremost Jim enjoyed helping people. He delivered Meals on Wheels in both York, PA and Byrdstown, TN for several years and was a volunteer at the York Community Nursing Home. He was also very involved in the church, Our Lady of Lourdes, Daytona Beach, FL while living there and relished working along side his best friend Leonard. Jim had a knack for identifying a fixer-up bargain and liked to revamp houses both inside and out, which he had done many over the years. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pat Huber Roth; one daughter, Patty Folkenroth and husband Sam: one son, Jim Roth, Jr. and wife Cindy; three grandsons, Nate, Brandon and Nick. A memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church, 101 Maple Ave., Byrdstown, TN on April 27th at 3 p.m. A Catholic mass will be celebrate on May 4th at 11 a.m. with good friend, Father Phil Egitto at Our Lady of Lourdes, 1014 North Halifax Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32118. A graveside service will be held May 7th at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery, 3101 Deininger Rd., York, PA. All family and friends are invited to attend.
