Andrew Hairston, 73, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away, August 16, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 22nd at 1:00 pm at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Pkwy South, and Palm Coast. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. He was born in Sullivan, W. Virginia to Andrew and Lila Mae (Hinton) Hairston. He relocated to Flagler County 8 years ago from Brooklyn, New York. Andrew was a retired Road Car Inspector with the New York Transit Authority and a skilled welder. He was a gifted fisherman, bowled with several leagues in the area, enjoyed trips to Bahamas, working in the yard and piddling around the house, as well as following his favorite sports teams and listening to Jazz. Andrew is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sandra Hairston, Palm Coast; his son, Andrew "Andy" Hairston, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; brothers, Robert, James, and William Hairston; sisters, Iva Green and Linda Green; as well as two grandchildren, Nyakinyua and Alyssa. He was preceded in death by his daughter Terri Hairston-Gill in 1996.
