Gerald (Jerry) W. Lainhart, 90, passed away November 6, 2012 at his residence. Jerry was born May 5, 1922, raised in Vestal, NY and moved to Daytona Beach in 1970 with his wife Ruth, living there for 29 years before relocating to Holly Hill. Jerry was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He served in France and Germany. He was a former color guard and life member of the local VFW Post 1590 and American Legion Post 120. Jerry previously worked for the town of Vestal, NY Highway Department and more recently retired from Atlas Welding in Daytona Beach. He was a loving father to his sons, a loving husband to his wife and will be remembered and truly missed. Jerry was predeceased by his father (Alva), his mother (Anna), his sisters Sara Bomboy, Rachel Lillie, Lillian Brown, and Hilda Gurney, all of Vestal, NY area. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Ruth Cantwell Lainhart in 2005. He is survived by one brother, Clinton (Dodie) Lainhart, Endicott, NY; and sister, Beverly Gurney of Binghamton, NY. Also surviving are his two sons, James Lainhart of Holly Hill, FL and William (Sharon) Lainhart of St. Augustine, FL; grand-daughters Sandra Wood and Dana Shaw of Florida; and granson John (Grace) Lainhart and great-grandson Carter of Seattle Washington; plus several nieces and nephews. Respecting Dad's wishes there will be no services. New Life Cremation and Funeral Chapel, Ormond Beach is in charge. In lieu of flowers, donations suggested to Alzheimer's Care and Services, 1025 N. Nova Rd., Suite 106, Daytona Beach, FL 32117.
