- Charles 'Chuck' Asbury, 47, Palm Coast, Fl., died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 from injuries received in and automobile crash in Volusia County. Born in Roanoke, Va., Chuck came to Crescent City as a young child where he grew up to be the man he was. He was a 1982 Graduate of Crescent City High School. He received his AA degree at Troy State before entering the U. S. Air Force. While in the Air Force, he served in the Persian Gulf, South Korea, Honduras and Italy. He retired as a Master Sergeant after twenty-two years of service to our country. He loved college football, especially the Gators, family gatherings and played high school baseball. Chuck is survived by his father, Jay E. Asbury and wife Patti of Crescent City; his mother, Lynda K. Frezza and husband Charlie of Palm Coast; brothers, Chadwick Asbury and wife Carrie, stationed in Hawaii and Chandler Asbury in East Palatka; daughter Courtney Ortwein and husband James of Palm Coast and son Cody Asbury of Crescent City and step sister, Shannon Read of Flagler Beach. Funeral services for Chuck will be at 11AM Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 in the First Baptist Church, Crescent City with Rev. Mark Somers officiating. Visitation with the family will be at 10AM in the church. Interment with military honors will follow in Eden Cemetery. Arrangements are under the careful care of the Clayton Frank and Biggs Funeral Home, 402 Cypress Ave., Crescent City.
