Richard A. Stein, age 85, of Ormond Beach, passed away on Tuesday, November 27th, 2012. A Funeral service will be held on today (Friday, November 30th, 2012) in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will immediately follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery. Richard was born on December 10th, 1926 in Flushing, New York to the late Kara (Skotnitsky) and Frank Stein. He was the youngest of six children: Lilith, Frank, Edward, Violet, Arthur, and Richard. He lived in Flushing until entering the United States Army and serving in the Korean War. In 1946, he moved to Middletown, New York, and married Nancy Krumm on December 26th, 1948. They had three children; Lawrence, Diane, and Elaine. A teacher by profession, he taught at Truman Moon Elementary School then at Memorial Junior High in Middletown, New York. For over twenty years, he taught physics at Tappan Zee High School in Orangeburg, New York before retiring and moving to Daytona Beach, Florida, where he taught physical science at Daytona Beach Community College. He received his teaching degree from Hoffstra University and a Masters in Physics from Syracuse University. He also attended Rensslear Polytech Institute and Columbia University. Richard married Suzanne Balena in 1990, moved to Ormond Beach. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; three children; and seven grandchildren.
