Francis Patrick Fitzgibbons, 92, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away on December 20, 2012 in Alexandria, Virginia. Fitz was born and raised in Amsterdam, New York. In 1952, he moved his young family to south Florida. He was a long-time insurance professional based in Miami and Fort Lauderdale before retiring to Port Orange where he became a member of Epiphany Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid student of history and a civil war buff. A lifetime enthusiast of model trains and the circus, he passed his love for them down to his children. He had numerous friends at the Admiralty Club in Port Orange, where he and his wife resided for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents Patrick and Mary Fitzgibbons; and son Terrence. He is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Claire Brennan Fitzgibbons; daughter Patricia Fitzgibbons; and sons Edmund Fitzgibbons (Laura) and Richard Fitzgibbons (Linda) and daughter-in-law Mary Fitzgibbons; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Epiphany Catholic Church of Port Orange, 201 Lafayette Street, Port Orange, FL.
