- Francis (Frank) Birt LaRoche, 92, of South Daytona, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Sandalwood Nursing Home. A native of Cocoa, FL, Mr. LaRoche moved to this area in 1950 from Merrittt Island, FL. He was an army veteran of World War II and the owner of citrus groves in Brevard county. He was vice president of Palm Orange Grove in South Daytona and the former owner of LaRoche Fruit and Gifts in Daytona Beach. Frank had been a race fan for many years, first attending the races on the beach and later following NASCAR and cheering for Fireball Roberts. He enjoyed carpentry and was an avid golfer. In lieu of other remembrances the family suggests donations be made to Halifax Health Hospice, 3800 Woodbriar Tr., Port Orange, FL 32129. Survivors include a daughter, Tracy LaRoche Scott (David) of Jacksonville, FL; 2 sons, Clayton Steed LaRoche (Cindy) and Ryan James LaRoche (Dana) of South Daytona; 5 grandchildren, Frank, Colby, Sean, Devin and Heather, 3 great grandchildren, Savannah, Wyatt, and Avery.
