Graveside service for Harry E. Ogle, Jr., age 79, of New Smyrna Beach, who died Saturday,
March 2, 2013 at Ocean View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 7, at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater, with Father Deke Miller officiating. Born on March 3, 1933 to Katherine and Harry Ogle, Sr. in Crowley, Louisiana, Harry moved to this area as a child. A graduate of New Smyrna Beach High School, he was Drum Major in the high school band for a number of years, and after taking formal drum lessons, played with local bands in the New Smyrna Beach area whenever he could. Mr. Ogle served in the United States Air Force stationed at Hickam Field in Hawaii, and was a member of the Air Force band there. A retired union pipe fitter for UA local union 295 in Daytona Beach, Mr. Ogle was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in New Smyrna Beach and was widely known for telling stories, jokes and playing pranks. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Wilson, 3 grandchildren, Bridgette Vaissiere King (Anthony), Elisha Vaissiere and Jeremy Hartman; 2 great grandchildren, Alexis and Zachary; and a niece, Katherine Glasson (Peter). Harry was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine; son, Gregory; daughter, Veralynn; and sister, Kay Morran.
