Jody Williams, 91, passed away on February 22, 2013 following a lengthy illness. Jody spent the last thirty years living in Ormond by the Sea and Ormond in the Pines. She was active in AARP, volunteering for Florida Hospital, and ushering for local productions at a Daytona theater. She was predeceased in 2000 by Al, her husband of 58 years. Jody loved spending time with her many friends in the area, going for walks, playing cards, bargain hunting and eating out. She loved gardening, reading, quilting and needlework, and her cats, Mama and Harley. Jody was born on the family farm in rural South Jersey. As a teen, she became an accomplished pianist and played organ at church. She graduated from Glassboro State Teachers College and married Al Williams, living mainly in south and central New Jersey, where she taught primary school for 30 years. "Mrs. Williams" was beloved by the children and their parents. Jody and Al raised two daughters and enjoyed travelling, bird watching and rock-hunting. They retired to Ormond Beach in 1982. She is survived by her daughters, Susie and Ellen; her son-in-law Austin; and her cherished granddaughter Annie. Her final resting place will be in the family plot at the Pittsgrove Presbyterian Church in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Halifax Humane Society of Daytona Beach or to any other animal welfare charity.
