George Daniel Reilly, age 87, of Edgewater, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at his residence. His family will hold a memorial service at the Port Orange VFW at a later date. Born in Braddock, Pennsylvania, Mr. Reilly was a retired trainmaster for the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad. A Technical Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, he served in the Pacific, Philippines and Okinawa, receiving a Presidential Unit Citation for good conduct, Asiatic-Pacific 2 Battle Stars and Philippine Liberation. Mr. Reilly was a member of American Legion Post 8 and Marine Corps League 1107, both in Winter Haven, Marine Corps League Volusia Captain Tiger Mayberry Detachment 658, Port Orange VFW Post 3282, and MAWS-8. Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Godlewski Reilly; three stepsons, Ronald (Christine) Godlewski of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, Michael (Donette) Godlewski of Edgewater, and Steven (Jennifer) Godlewski of Bloomington, Illinois; and seven grandchildren, Daniel, Brian, Christiana, Jonathan, Samantha, and Katie Godlewski, and Shyanne Jovingo.
