Martha J. Nibler died March 18, 2013 in Orange City, FL. She was the first woman to work as a Police Officer and a Detective with the DeLand Police Department along- side her husband Frank who preceded her in death. She was a Marksman in shooting and was a master gardener specializing in orchids. Martha had one of the first convictions in the state using DNA forensics. After retiring in 1988, her time has been spent taking care of ailing friends with compassion and caring for her grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Teresa Ward; sons, James and Steven Ward; grandchildren Logan and Kasey Ward; and great-grandchild, Alan Nutter. Graveside services will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at DeLand Memorial Gardens with Father Don Lyon officiating. Lankford Funeral Home is in charge.
