Hope M. Hamlin, 96, of Ormond Beach peacefully passed away April 3, 2013. Hope was born in Gorham, New Hampshire to Edward and Lila (Bartlett) Tenney. She was a loving mother to her three children: Nancy, Marilyn, and Robert. Hope was a homemaker in New Jersey from 1952-1991. In New Jersey, Hope was active in the Garden Club, Historical Society, and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Hope was a founder of the Mount Washington, New Hampshire museum. She ran the museum from May to October until she was 71 years old. She was the first woman to ever live at the Mt Washington weather observatory. Hope was a world traveler, seeking adventure in Egypt, Peru, Turkey, Norway and many other lands. Hope retired to Florida in 1991. She enjoyed her community of friends at The Falls. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of 3 bridge clubs. Hope also volunteered at Halifax Hospital for many years. She was a faithful parishioner at Christ Presbyterian Church. Hope will be sadly missed by her children: Robert Hamlin of Palm Coast, FL, Nancy Hamlin of New York, and Marilyn Brandenburg of Tennessee; and by her grandchildren: Wendy McNabb and Eric Brandenburg of Tennessee, Christine Locke of Australia, Charles Locke of Gainesville, FL, and Elizabeth Styer of Pennsylvania; and by her six great-grandchildren. Hope was predeceased by her parents and her brother Edward Tenney. The family wishes to thank the many employees of Halifax Hospice of Volusia/Flagler for their loving care of Hope over the past year and a half. A Memorial Service will be held in her honor at Christ Presbyterian Church, 1035 W Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174 on Sunday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Hope's name to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia / Flagler at 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
