Rod Kieft, age 89, passed away on March 30th at the Terrace, Daytona Beach, FL. Rod was born in Schenectady, NY on September 2, 1923. He graduated from Draper High School and Union College, both in Schenectady. His degree was in electrical engineering. After serving in the US Army during World War II he began his 48 year career at General Electric Company. He held various positions at GE. When he retired in 1986, he was Manager of Logistics for the Gas Turbine International Department. rod was a volunteer for Literacy Advocates and Hospice of Volusia-Flagler. He and his wife, Susan, enjoyed 38 years of marriage and 26 years of retirement; traveling, skiing, golfing, tennis and welcoming grandchildren. Rod was predeceased by his son, Michael. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; sons, Rodman, Gary, Donald and William; daughters, Kathryn Nass and Karen Montgomery; and nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 2pm at the Hospice of Volusia-Flagler Care Center, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Memorials may be made to Hospice at the same address.
