Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Brown, 94, Daytona Beach, will be 11 AM, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at RJ Gainous Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Martha Walton, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 8:30 PM, today (Fri., April 26) at RJ Gainous Funeral Home and from 9:30 AM until service time at the Funeral Home on Sat. Mrs. Mae Brown was born to the union of Jimmie and Nellie Williams on October 6, 1918. Mae received her early education in the local public schools of her hometown in Georgia. As a young woman she moved to Daytona Beach, Florida. She was devoted to public service. Upon retirement, she enjoyed many years of cooking, fishing and gardening. Mae enjoyed a happy and fruitful life; however, her health began to fail over several months and it was during the evening hours of Sunday, April 21, 2013 that the life book down here for Mae L. Brown was closed in the quietness of her room at Halifax Health Medical Center, Daytona Beach, Florida. Mae was an admirable person, with a righteous character, generous spirit, sound advice and quick wit. She was an inspiration to many, and a loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed and mourned by her family and friends. Mae was preceded in death by her sons: Jimmie Lee Williams, Raymond Williams, Thomas Lee Williams and a daughter: Octavia Brown. Left to cherish her many fond memories is her loving and devoted sister: Viola Johnson; her children: Leroy Williams, Charlie Brown, Jr., Nathaniel Brown, John Willie Brown and Arvern Whitfield; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other sorrowing family and friends.
