Dr. David E. Stibbins (Dave), 67, of Ormond Beach, FL and Beech Mountain, NC, died suddenly at his home Saturday, April 27, 2013 in Ormond Beach. Dave was the eldest son of the late Dr. Warren E. and Mary L. Stibbins of Muncie, Indiana. Dave completed his Pre-Med degree from Ball State University and received his Doctorate of Medicine from Indiana University. He was a Research Fellow of Medicine at Harvard University and a Pulmonary Fellow at Baylor University, working with Dr. Michael DeBakey. He started the Emergency Helicopter Services in Evansville, Indiana. Dave was Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Geriatric Medicine. Dave met Donna in 1976 and they married in 1978. They moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1983 where he became Director of the Halifax Medical Center Emergency Room until his retirement. Dave loved being a Doctor and helping people. He truly missed working as a physician. Dave's interests were extensive: he was a devoted animal lover, an avid tennis player, enjoyed sailing, rode motorcycles and loved traveling in his motor-home with Donna and his dogs. He had a passion for photography and music. Dave craved knowledge and continued to learn, especially in computers and modern technology. Dave will be sadly missed by his wife of 35 years, Donna; by his beloved dog Mishka; and by his five siblings. His generosity of time, knowledge, caring and empathy will be missed by his entire family and the many friends he cared so much about. A Memorial Service Celebrating Dave's life will be held Monday, May 6, 2013. Family welcomes friends from 2:00pm- 4:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond, with Chapel Services starting at 2:30pm.
