Carl Eugene Johnson, Memorial service for Carl Eugene Johnson, age 86, of Edgewater, who died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia /Flagler, Edgewater, will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1835, Edgewater, Florida. Born in Midvale, Ohio on February 2, 1927, Mr. Johnson was a United States Armed Forces Veteran who served at Pearl Harbor during the World War II attacks. He was proud to be among fellow World War II veterans to take the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. to see "their" memorial. For over 50 years, Mr. Johnson was a dedicated member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and a strong supporter of Moosehaven. He was also a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles, The American Legion, and AMVETS Post 2. His life experiences include attending the University of Florida, working as a engineer developing and building packing production lines, flying his private airplane, working as a private detective, running a private ambulance company, and serving as a security guard in his retirement years. He loved and cared for his wife, was an avid gardener, wine maker, enjoyed cooking and sharing the products of all his labor with his many friends and family. Survivors include his wife and companion of 37 years, Marjorie "Jean" Johnson; children, Joan Couture of Edgewater, Carl Johnson, Jr. of Port Charlotte, Danny Johnson of Orlando, Walter Johnson of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Larry Johnson of Kissimmee; two brothers, Harold Johnson and Zola Johnson of Orlando; three sisters, Zelda Lassiter and Linda Fall, both of Orlando, and Mabel Sadler of Ocala; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and his much beloved dog, friend and companion "Boots". Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Johnson's name to Moosehaven through the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1835, 2335 S. Ridgewood Avenue, Edgewater, Florida 32141.
