Richard S. Tilger, 69, passed away on May 19, 2013. A funeral service will be held on Saturday May 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach, FL. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. Richard was born in Trenton, New Jersey in 1943. He was raised in Ewing, New Jersey and following High School he worked for Defense Electronics as a draftsman. Richard then served in the United States Army Cavalry division at Fort Carson, Colorado, and served in the Vietnam War. Following the war he earned a bachelor's degree at Jersey City State College in Speech and Language Therapy. He began driving trucks, and broke away to start his own trucking business, TLC Trucking where he was an owner/operator of a fleet of trucks. Later in life Richard founded Tilger Leasing Company where he operated as a real Estate investor and leasing agent. Richard was known for his charismatic demeanor, warm sense of humor and was considered the life of the party. Those left to cherish Richard's memory is his loving wife Judy Tilger; daughter, Jennifer (Rudi) Tilger Smit; sister, Judith Ingenbrandt; grandchildren, Charlie and Analice Smit; his nephews Eric, Christopher and Timothy Ingenbrandt; and nieces Laurel Gordon and Lisa Majewski. Richard is now at peace with his late sister Barbara, his mother Ruth, and Father Joseph.
