Jack D. Hallstrom, 82, of DeLand, FL passed away on June 12, 2013 at his home. He was born on December 1, 1930 in Chicago, IL to parents John and Helen Hallstrom. Much of his childhood was in Chicago, Wisconsin, and Texas. He moved to Hernando, FL with his family in 1946. Soon after high school graduation in 1948 he spent four years in the U.S. Navy. He and his family then moved to Lake Helen and then to DeLand. After working construction, he obtained his draftsman degree and worked for 27 years for Craig J. Gehlert, Architect in Daytona Beach. Retiring in 1992, a hobby of clock and watch repair became a second business for him. He was well known and liked in the local antique world, selling in several area malls. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eileen Middleton. He is survived by his wife, Ada; sons; Michael (Sue) Hallstrom of Oklahoma, Randall (Beth) Hallstrom and Jack (Angie) Hallstrom, Jr., both of DeLand, FL.; stepson Donald Downing of Texas; and stepdaughter Patte (Gary) Clifton of DeLand, FL; 15 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Also surviving are his nephews, Roger (Margaret) Smith of Booneville, Mississippi and Bob ( Karen) Smith of Tampa, FL. He was pre-deceased by nieces Ardel Perryman and Gloria Dowdy. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. followed by a memorial service at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Glenn officiating.
