Robin Scott Miller (Scott), 58, of Holly Hill died at 6:15 Monday morning September 2, at Florida Hospital
Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Scott was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 16, 1955 to the late Ada Margaret Miller (Maggie) and James Edgar Miller, formerly of Flagler Beach. Scott lived most of his childhood in Minerva, Ohio before relocating with his family to the Flagler Beach area. Scott graduated from Bunnell High School in 1973 where he was a state champion in track. He joined the Air Force in 1973, serving for four years active duty Boca Chica Naval Air Station in Key West. Scott was a translator after having graduating at the top of his class from the Monterey Language School in Monterey, California. Scott worked for many years as part owner of Sterns Carpet and Tile. He also attended Florida Keys Community College and Daytona Beach Community College. Scott carried this enthusiasm for running throughout his life, training and participating in many races over the years. His other interests included football and NASCAR. His favorites included the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, and NASCAR great Mark Martin. Scott would always say that his greatest joy came from his children and grandchildren -- his love for them is his lasting legacy. Scott will always be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his wit and warmth and steady demeanor. Scott is survived by his loving wife, Doris (Dubbie) Miller, who shared his love of NASCAR and sports. He loved attending races and watching football with Dubbie and his children. Scott had three children: Teresa N. Miller Cawvey (Gus Alfonso) of Key West, Kyle S. Miller of Gainesville and Kelly M. Miller of Tampa; as well as two stepchildren: Amanda Steffy Ward and Malinda Steffy both of Rogersville, TN; six grandchildren; his siblings, David H. Polcyn, wife Linda, of Medina Ohio, Mary Patricia (Pattie) Powell of Louisville, Ohio, Sherry Moore, husband Thomas of Madison, Indiana, and Cassandra (Cassy) Dixon husband Rhon of Palm Coast Florida; a sister in law, Jackie Baxter "Sissy"; brother in law, George Hufnagle; and many nieces and nephews. Scott was preceded in death by his sister, Suzette Miller Powell of Lexington, KY. Visitation for Scott will be held on Thursday Sept. 5, 2013 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at Dale Woodward Funeral Chapel, 167 Ridgewood Avenue Holly Hill. A memorial service will be held following at 7:00 pm the VFW Post 1590 1013 Veterans Court Daytona Beach with Wiley Lowe officiating. Military honors will follow.
