Warren J. Turcol, 92, of Daytona Beach, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013. Warren was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years Mabel. He leaves behind a loving family including his cherished sons, Al Burke (Tina), and Jim (Anne); loving grandchildren, Stephen, Megan and Matthew (Alicia). He also leaves behind his nephew, Donald; and niece Dolores. Warren was born on January 18, 1921 to the late Joseph and Stella Turcol, in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating high school Warren, like many of his fellow Americans of the time, answered the call to serve their country in World War II. Warren enlisted in the Army as an infantryman with the 3rd Army. Warren fought alongside General Patton in his service and is highly decorated for his bravery. Warren was wounded in the war receiving two Purple Hearts, he also received two Bronze Stars, and was a member of the 79th Division also known as the "Cross of Lorraine" Division. Upon his return to the states he married his beloved wife Mable. He then began his career as a Produce Manager for A & P in Pittsburgh, PA. He also was the founder of the Meals on Wheels program in the Brookline area of Pittsburgh. In 1980 Warren relocated to Daytona Beach and continued his service to those who were in need, staying active in the Meals on Wheels program. Warren was also an active member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church and very active with the Daytona Beach area hospice organizations.
A visitation will take place at the Lohman Daytona Funeral Home, Thursday September 26, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. The funeral service, presided over by Rev. Schillinger of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, will be at 12:00 P.M. with an entombment at Daytona Memorial Park to follow.
