Hubert "Herb" A. Stoppelbein, 70, passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2013. Herb was born in Monticello, FL on November 11, 1942 to the late Lorenze and Irene Stoppelbein. Herb grew up in St. Augustine, FL and after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, sailing on the U.S.S. Towers. After his service, he settled in the Daytona Beach area and began his work as a Police Officer in the Daytona Beach P.D. and the Volusia County Sheriff's Dept. and later at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, retiring ultimately after 45 years working in Law Enforcement. Herb is survived by his wife, "Annie" Stoppelbein, his daughters; Renee Tudor (Brad), Sherri Crosier (Jay), and Heather Nardi, sons; Derik and Joseph, six grandchildren, five sisters; Jean Charles, Silvia Acosta (Jimmy), Clarice Walton (Earl), Vicki Christensen (Vennice), Julie Wingo-Washington (Hugh) and brother Lorenze "Bubba" Stoppelbein, all of St. Augustine. The "Celebration of Life" is scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange. A memorial run will leave October 27, 2013 from the Cabbage Patch at 11:00 A.M. Herb's family would like to thank the VA Senior Helpers and Halifax Health Hospice.
