Richard H. (Dick) Albert of Ormond Beach passed away at home on January 4, 2014 at the age of 83 with his family close by. Dick was born in Flushing, NY and moved to Ormond Beach in 1964 with his family in tow. He worked for AT&T for 39 years before retiring, at which time he learned to love the game of golf and quickly grew to love being retired. Dick was a loving husband of 62 years to his wife Barbara who passed away last March. He was also a loving Father to his children and a loving Pop to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dick dedicated his life to the responsibility of providing for his family. He enjoyed family vacations, and what started as trips for his young children continued into family vacations with the grandchildren. It is with this loving memory of our parents, now that they are together again, that they will have one more trip when their ashes are spread in the Mesas in one of their most favorite places, Laughlin, Nevada. Some of his many other activities in life included being a Lifetime member of the Ormond Beach Elks Lodge #2193. He was also a Boy Scout leader, he served as a Deacon at Ormond Beach Union Church, and he bowled for many years on different leagues at Ormond Lanes. Dick is survived by his seven children and spouses; Richard & Ruth, Albert, Donna & Tom Neely, Debbie Albert, Scott Albert & Mashelle Kindle, Diane & Todd Johnston, Bill & Elizabeth Albert and Doris & Larry Haigh. His grandchildren include Chrissy Ellison, Matthew Bunning & Tiffany Clay, Richard & Stephanie Johnston, Amanda Johnston, Lauren Albert, Lindsey Albert and Will Albert and his great grandchildren Lillianna, Nicolas and Aubriella Johnston, Aidan & Abbey Ellison. He is also survived by his cat, Annie. A celebration of his wonderful life is planned for January 11, 2014, at 1:00 pm, at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends consider making a donation in his honor to The Halifax Humane Society. This was a charity that he held close to his heart.
