Richard Owen Segale, 82, of Ormond Beach, passed away peacefully on January 8th, 2014 at home after a short illness. Dick was born March 16, 1931 in Everett, Washington to Edward and Clara Vognild Segale. Dick and his wife Audrey graduated together from Queen Anne High School and the University of Washington in Seattle where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was a Korean War Naval Veteran from 1950 - 1952. After graduating from college, Dick began a long career with General Electric. He and his wife moved to Syracuse, New York where their four children were born. Dick was transferred to General Electric in Daytona Beach in 1962 where they raised their family. He was a talented chef and loved cooking for friends and family. His love of cooking led him to open Riccardos Italian Restaurant in 1972. Riccardo's was a local favorite of residents and tourists for many years before it closed in 2003. Dick also enjoyed playing golf, bridge and gin rummy with friends. He was a member and officer of the Florida Restaurant Association and the Kawa Bon Sai Society. In his younger days he loved the beach, fishing and boating with his family. He is predeceased by his oldest son Steven Segale. Surviviors include his wife of 60 years, children Richard Charles Segale, Sharon Segale and Susan Tate (Robert), grandchildren Stephen and Brian Tate, Kathryn and Audrey Segale, Susan and and Anna Marie Schwarz and his sister Sandra Egtvet and several nieces and nephews of Seattle. A private family service will be held at a later date.
