Charles Gemberling Obituary

Charles Ralph Gemberling, 97, died at the Hospice Care Center in Port Orange on April 16, 2007. Mr. Gemberling was born April 13, 1910, to Charles G. and Mabel C. Gemberling in Moorepark, Mich. He graduated from Three Rivers High School. He continued his education at Gregg College Court Reporting School in Chicago, graduating in 1931. He was married to Helen M. Bahls on June 30, 1932, in Three Rivers, Mich. They resided in Boone, Iowa, until 1947 where Ralph served as a circuit court reporter. In 1947 they moved to Kalamazoo, Mich., where Ralph served as a reporter for the Kalamazoo circuit court. In 1958 Mr. Gemberling began the Gemberling, O'Brian & Bails Court Reporting Firm in Kalamazoo. Following his retirement in 1980, he and his wife moved to the Orlando area. Ralph and his wife had lived in Port Orange since 2000. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Helen; two sisters, Lois Soule and Eva Day. He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Ann Miller, and husband, Larry, New Smyrna Beach; grandson, Scott A. Miller and wife, Tammy, Orange City; granddaughter, Michelle M. Ludwig, Port Orange; and two great-grandchildren, Storey and Aubrey Miller, Orange City; his nephew, Tom Day, and wife, Lori, Shelbyville, Mich.; and extended family members, Michael, Hoa and Tina Tran, Orlando.
