Dean DeWitt Bliss
Dean DeWitt Bliss, 66, passed away on December 31, 2012 in Springfield, Mo. From carcinoid Cancer. Dean was born in northeast Ohio on October 5, 1946. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca and son B. Jay, daughter-in-law Jen and grandsons Logan and Lex of Colorado Springs, Colorado, brothers Keith and Dale of Courtland, Ohio, and sister Jean of Winter Haven, Florida.
Dean received a BA from Ohio University in English Literature and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Libya (1968-1969) and Afghanistan (1970-1973). While living and working overseas he took every opportunity to travel and see the world. This fostered an interest in the hospitality industry where he spent the rest of his life. He got a job as a Front Desk Clerk in a limited service hotel in 1973 and eight years later was named General Manager of a Marriott Hotel, the first of many hotels and resorts he managed from New York to California in the USA as well as in Seoul, South Korea. He retired in November, 2012, from the position of General Manager of the Comfort Inn and Suites in Springfield, Missouri.
Dean was a member of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Springfield, Missouri. One of his greatest joys was singing in the church choir.
Memorial Services will be held March 23rd Saturday at 11:00 AM at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, Springfield, Mo.
A small Reception to follow after the Service.

I am so saddened to learn of Dean's death. He was a good neighbor and his involvement in the our Unitarian Church in Harrisburg significant and valued.

A member of the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg, PA learned of Dean's passing and announced it at Church today 1/25/14. Those of us who new Dean remember him fondly. Our condolences to his family and friends.

Dean you were a wonderful person and you made Becky very happy these past several years and it always seemed that she made you very happy and i dont think a person can ask for more than that in a lifetime
