Cathern Boyd
Cathern Boyd, of Springfield, went home to her Heavenly Father on February 17, 2013 at the age of 82.
She was born in Springfield, MO on April 7, 1930 to Lynn and Effie (Applegate) Young. Cathern graduated from Springfield High School in 1947 and married the love of her life, James R. Boyd, on November 7, 1948.
Cathern, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother found immense joy in her family. Another source of great comfort in her life was her involvement in her church home. Cathern was a long-time and active member of Glenstone Baptist Church in Springfield.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James R. Boyd; one brother Tony (Carolyn) Young of Murfreesboro, TN; three children James R. Boyd, Jr. and his wife Amy Boyd, Mary Weltha and Deborah Steele and her husband James Steele; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Cathern was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Madge Nelson and three brothers Fred Young, Lynn Young, Jr. and Don Young.
Memorial donations may be made in honor of Cathern to Glenstone Baptist Church in Springfield, MO.
A Visitation will be held 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Klinger Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte Chapel with services in the chapel Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 10 a.m.
