Charlie V. Ware, Jr.

Charlie V Ware, Jr was born January 15, 1941 to Charlie V. and Mary E. (Greek) Ware in Springdale, AR and departed this life for the next on April 4, 2014 in his home in Springfield, Mo.

He was raised in Lebanon, Mo., graduating in 1959. On December 15, 1963 he married Rita Simpson and together they raised three children. He was a faithful member of the Mission Hills Church of Christ. He retired from the Springfield Police Department after more than 23 years of dedicated service as a Police Officer. He was never a man to sit around and do nothing, if he wasn't in his shop tinkering with electronics he was working at one of a number of jobs after retiring. He was a clerk, educator, and groundskeeper until his health no longer permitted it. He enjoyed amateur radio, getting his first Ham license at age 15, and through his radio talked to people all over the world as KØPGC. His 1969 Cougar XR-7 convertible was his dream car and he proudly displayed it at car shows around the Ozarks winning several trophies along the way. Charlie was serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Battlefield (Mo.) Fire Protection District at the time of his death.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Lori Lynne. He is survived by sons: Paul (Michelle), Amarillo, TX and Mark (Susan), Battlefield, Mo.; a daughter, Kimberly Livingston, Springfield; a brother, James Ware, Cypress, TX; and a sister, Betty Wooten, Bartlesville, OK; grandchildren: Sean, Katie, Whitney and Kaylee Ware, Mackenzie, Moriah and Isaiah Livingston; step-grandchildren: Kelsey Carrell and Sam Cooke; and great-grandchildren: Tyler, Austin, Cailie, Kylee, Colleen, and Evan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services for Charlie will be in Shadel's Colonial Chapel, No. Highway 5, Lebanon, MO on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation the preceding Monday night 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

The family asks for donations sent to Care to Learn, 411 N. Sherman Pky, Springfield, MO 65802 or left at the funeral home.
