Euell "Perk" Roberts
Mr. Euell "Perk" Roberts, 80, of Springfield, died Sunday, June 30, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Roberts will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 3 in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Holvick officiating. Burial will be in the Kissee Mills Cemetery.
Euell Etzyl Roberts was born Wednesday, March 22, 1933 in Hilda, MO to Preston Ira and Nola (Weaver) Roberts. He attended Forsyth High School and graduated in 1951. In 1953 he was drafted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharge with the rank of Corporal in 1955. He was married to Regina Jo Kissee on July 9, 1954 in Taneyville. They moved out west to pick fruit and then Perk and Regina moved to Kansas City, MO where he attended the Molar Barber College. He served his apprenticeship in Mansfield and Walnut Grove. He then worked for "Red's Barbershop" in Springfield for a few years and eventually purchased the business. He was known for his flattop haircuts. He retired in 2005 after 49 years in the profession.
He was a soft spoken, honest caring man that had a great sense of humor. Although he was always worried about his family he was especially soft-hearted with his grandchildren. In his younger years he loved coon hunting, woodworking, gardening and sucker grabbing. He was an avid follower of the Lady Bears Basketball team. One of "Perk's" special achievements was remaining sober for 29 years.
He is survived by his wife Regina of Springfield; three sons, Reggie Roberts and wife, Marcia of Sparta, Randy Roberts and wife, Trish of Springfield, Ronnie Roberts and wife, Kathy of Kissee Mills; six grandchildren, Kim Berriman, Shawn, Brittany, Brandy, Preston and Cody Roberts; seven great-grandchildren, Kyle, Parker, Reed, Jackson, Cooper, Brooklyn and Charlotte.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters.
