Hazel L. Baker Gunier

Hazel L. Baker Gunier, 86 of Springfield was born on February 14th, 1927 in North Platte, Nebraska to O.H. and Tillie Baker. She walked into the Lord's arms surrounded by loving family and friends on August 1st, 2013 at Cox Hospital, Springfield, following a short illness.

Hazel was married to S. R. Gunier on September 12th, 1945 and to this union one daughter, Brenda Sue, was born. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband S. R., her parents, her brother, Donald Baker, a brother and sister-in-law, Harold Wallen and Jo Frances Baker, respectively.

Daughter, Brenda Gunier of Springfield, a special son and daughter, Jackie and Sharon Truitt of Bolivar, one sister; Shirley Wallen of Grain Valley, and one brother, E. H. Baker of Pleasant Hill and Sister-in-Law, Josephine Baker, survive her. She was also survived by a host of special daughters, nieces and nephews, and a lifelong friend, Ilene Haber.

The family will receive visitation at noon on Monday August 5th at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, till the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Humansville Cemetery will follow the service.

Since Hazel was a 45 year survivor of Breast Cancer, the families request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks in her name, or to the .
