Jill Marie Keck, 50, of Nixa, MO, passed away at 10pm on Fri., Apr. 12, 2013 in Mercy Hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Jill was born in Clayton, MO to Walter and Helen Murphy. Jill attended Immaculate Conception grade school in Ft. Smith, AR. She graduated from Kickapoo High School in 1981. Jill attended SMSU and later graduated from Draughon Business College. Jill spent 25 years of her working career in the utilities business, first with Associated Electric Cooperative, Springfield, and then with Sho-Me Power, Marshfield, as Executive Assistant to the Gen. Mgr. & Board of Directors.
Jill was preceded in death by her mother, Helen. Jill is survived by her husband, Joe, and son, Jack, of the home; father and step-mother, Walter and Sandy Murphy, Springfield; sister, Natalie Murphy and husband and children, Nixa; and brother, Patrick Murphy, Springfield. Jill's faith in God and love for her family and friends were most important to Jill and sustained her during life--particularly during her 18-month battle with cancer. Jill's infectious love of life and great sense of humor will live on in the memories of all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held today in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Prayer service and eulogy will follow. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Weds., Apr. 17, 2013 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Springfield. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield. A celebration of Jill's life will be held Sunday, Apr. 21, 2013, 5 to 7 p.m. in Millwood Golf Club, 3700 E. Millwood Dr., Springfield, MO.
