Lee Edward Richardson, 84, Springfield, passed away quietly Monday, September 16, 2013, at Cox South Hospital. He was born to Albert and Anna (Coleman) Richardson, in Elvins, MO, on August 28, 1929.

Lee was a U.S. Air Force and Army veteran, having served three tours, including Japan and Korea. He married Mary Ruth Ketcherside on April 23, 1954, and was happily married for 54 years until her death in October, 2008. Together they raised three children, living in Flat River, MO, until moving to Springfield in 1986. Lee spent most of his working years in the insurance industry, later selling real estate in Springfield, but he was most proud of opening Scenic Rivers Boats & Motors in Bonne Terre, MO. A devout Christian, he was an active member of Park Crest Baptist Church and The Gideons International. Lee spent most of his adult life witnessing for Christ and held many leadership positions with Gideons International, including Past President and Secretary/Treasurer. He was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mary Ruth, he was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. Lee is survived by his three daughters, Jayne Richardson, Janet Kniss and husband, Michael, and Annette Sullivan; four grandchildren, Jennalee Kniss, John Kniss, Sara Ann Sullivan and John L. Sullivan.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 5:30pm - 7:30pm, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. Lee will be interred at Missouri Veterans Cemetery with a committal service Friday, September 20, 2013, at 10:00am. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00am, at Park Crest Baptist Church on Republic Road in Springfield.
