Maralyn Campbell Roedder
Captain Maralyn Campbell Roedder, USAF (RET), 31, of Bolivar, passed away on December 25, 2012 at her home in Alexandria, Virginia. She was born at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, the daughter of Ricci and UnHui Roedder.
Prior to entering the military, Maralyn completed a degree in Biology at the University of Missouri in Columbia. She received an ROTC Commission as a 2nd Lieutenant and completed her training as an Air Battle Manager at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. She was subsequently stationed in Okinawa, Japan where she was a crew member on an E-3 Sentry (AWACS) aircraft. Her final active assignment was at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland with duties at the Pentagon. After medically retiring from the service she received a Masters Degree in International Relations from Troy University while simultaneously working as a contractor for the Department of Defense. Outside of military service, Maralyn was very active in the church and with the Special Olympics
. She was also an avid traveler, visiting 16 countries after graduating from MU.
Maralyn is survived by her parents Ricci W. and UnHui Roedder of Springfield; brother Timothy W. Roedder of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; grandmother Virginia (Campbell) Roedder of Bolivar; and Maralyn's longtime companion CPT Thomas M. Hanson, USAF. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Maralyn's childhood friend, CPT Leon McGilbra, USA.
A Memorial Service willl be held at 1 pm, Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 4216 S. Charleston Ave., Springfield, Mo. A private burial service will be conducted at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar the following day under the care and direction of Murray Funeral Home, Bolivar.
