Mary Helen (Holmes) Moll
Mary Helen Moll (89) died peacefully from pneumonia on February 10, 2013 in Mercy Hospital. She was born November 6, 1923 to William A and Sylvia Holmes and lived her entire life in Springfield. A proud graduate of Central High School, Mary loved the activities of the "Class of '41". After graduation she worked at Doling Park Skating Rink where she taught roller dancing during the World War Il years. For thirty years Mary was employed at Neff's Clothing Store until she retired to take care of her grandsons.
On October 21, 1949 she married the love of her life Bill Moll and they had 48 years together. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Bill, and B. J. her son. Mary is survived by her daughter Carol (Moll) Wilson, daughter -in -law Cheryll (Beatty) Moll, five grandsons: Matthew and Martin Wilson (Strafford, MO), Jayson Moll (Liberty, MO), Justus and wife Rebecca Moll (Fayetteville, AR), Jacob Moll (Springfield), and her beloved great -granddaughter Isabella Moll.
Mary was a faithful member of Central Christian Church where she belonged to the Loyal Workers Sunday School Class, was active in Christian Women's Fellowship, and loved singing in the Chancel Choir. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 50 years and a Meals- On Wheels volunteer for many years.
Mary leaves behind a host of cherished friends and school peers who were a constant source of happiness. Her feisty wit and fun loving spirit will linger with those who were privileged to know her.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 12 from 5 pm-7 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 13 at Central Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Central Christian Church or Meals-On-Wheels.
