Robert Arthur "Bob" Davis, Sr.

Mr. Robert Arthur "Bob" Davis Sr., age 88, of Battlefield, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. He was born on March 9, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Marion Albert and Hilda Marie (Hirning) Davis.

Bob served his country as a U.S. Navy Seabee during World War II.

He was united in marriage to Susan E. Weisler on June 29, 1946 and they were blessed with five children.

He was a member of the Freedom Masonic Lodge # 636 of Mehlville, Mo. for over 50 years, and was actively involved with the Order of the Eastern Star, Job's Daughters, and the DeMolay. Bob was also a Boy Scout Scoutmaster. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan, on February 5, 2010; a six week old infant son, Danny Lee; his parents; and a brother, Roland.

He is survived by four children and their spouses, Dennis and Judy Davis, Marksville, La., Jerry and Sandra Davis, Republic, Mo., Robert, Jr. and Laura Davis, Battlefield, Mo., and Peggy and Robert Flex, Dickinson, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann Kobylinski, Webster Groves, Mo.; other extended family and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., with Masonic Rites at 5 p.m., on Sunday, April 7, 2013 in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, Mo. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, also in the funeral home, with Chaplain Glyn Davies officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow the service at 1:00 p.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions can be made to the .
